The Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team in investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Aug. 14th, 2023 (Monday) at 8:03 AM at the intersection of Maplecrest Rd. and Trier Rd. Preliminary investigation indicates that a maroon passenger car being driven by an adult male was traveling south on Maplecrest Rd. and rear ended a silver passenger car, also driven by an adult male, which was stopped at the traffic light on Maplecrest Rd at Trier Rd. The marron car then continued south through the intersection and careened through a fence after the collision.
Initial information indicates that the driver of the maroon vehicle had a medical episode prior to the crash. The driver was unresponsive at the scene and was rendered aid by FWFD and TRAA. He was taken to a local hospital in life threatening condition. While at the hospital the subject was pronounced deceased by medical staff a short time later. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
Southbound Maplecrest RD. is closed to all traffic between Brian Dr. and Landmark Dr. while the investigators process the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Coroner’s Office.
